Art Director for Afro Samurai Resurrection Wins Emmy
Ikeda Shigemi, won the Juried award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for the art direction of Afro Samurai Resurrection on August 24th. The award will be presented at the 2009 Creative Arts Awards on September 12th, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Ikeda Shigemi is an acclaimed art director for many series including Mobile Suit Gundam, Inuyasha, Library Wars, Rosario + Vampire, & Kekkaishi.
Afro Samurai Resurrection is the animated television movie sequel to the Afro Samurai series. Produced by GONZO, Afro Samurai Resurrection take place after watching his father die in a duel against a villian known as Justice, the young Afro fixes his life on the study of swords and revenge. Afro must once again embark on a path of violence in order to let his father rest in peace once again. Lucy Liu, Samuel Jackson, & Mark Hammel lent their voices for this movie.
